LEM does syslog, but so much more and has a higher price tag. If you are looking for a security information and event management system, then this is the better choice. It can take feeds from just about any log file, or incoming message you care to throw at it and then runs it through its engine, creating heat maps, compliance reports and highlighting possible problems.
Kiwi Syslog Server does what it says (and SNMP traps) and for the price, it does it very well indeed. Kiwi is showing it's age, but only in a GUI sense, functionally it can handle millions of syslogs a day with ease. There is a desktop interface, and a web, both feel old and a little clunky, but that is my only criticism of the product. We use as our SolarWinds server just could not handle the syslog load, it spanked the database so hard, the rest of the system broke.
So all depends on what you need, bells and whistles or low cost function.
