Kiwi Syslog and ESXi 5.1

I am trying to get Kiwi to get logs from one of my ESXi 5.1 hosts and am running into the following issue.

When I enter the address of the syslog server int he ESXI host configuration under Advanced Settings as tcp://xyz.com:514 kiwi sees noting but if I enter udp://xyz.com:514 I get a spam of error messages saying ",hostname> lsassd9241: 0x734f9b90: Terminating on fatal IPC extension" anybody seen this or have any ideas of fixes?
